Quietude Holly
AMHA #0106245
(Courier x Caven-Glo Ballerina)
1986 Chestnut Mare
Quietude Holly is a product of close breeding in the tradition of J. C.
Brunk, the breeds master breeder. This tradition was carried on by Frances Bryant
and then on to Eve Oakley, Caven-Glo Morgans, and The Quietude Stud. It combines the best
of the Daniel Lambert horses with the Old Vermont blood. This tradition was put into
perfection by Brunk, breeder of Jubilee King and Paragraph, then Mrs. Bryant followed him
using those two and adding in more of the Old Vermont Morgans.
Quietude Hollys sire, Courier, was bred by Mrs. Bryant as was his
sire Criterion and the next sire Jubilees Courage. Couriers dam, Precious
Ashmore, was also bred by Mrs. Bryant. Courier was shown some, doing well, and then had
little chance at stud, being a back yard horse for many years until purchased by The
Quietude Stud. Courier was a handsome, smooth Morgan of good temperament. Criterion was a
stunning, handsome, typey, correct Morgan of true Baroque type and excellent correct
movement. Criterions sire, Jubilees Courage was sired by the great Jubilee
King. Jubilee King is also the sire of the mare Paragraph, who was the dam of Precious
Ashmore, dam of Courier. Paragraph was a broodmare of greatness, dam of many excellent
producing daughters and good sons. An extensive article was written about her for Classic
Morgan Admirers.
Eve Oakley got her foundation stock from Mrs. Bryant. One of these was the
lovely, correct, wonderfully tempered Cavendish who excelled in all asked of him from
parades, driving, riding English and western and as sire. He is the sire of Quietude
Hollys dam, Caven-Glo Ballerina. Cavendish was sired by Jubilees Courage and
out of Paragraph, making him 50% Jubilee King blood. Caven-glo Ballerinas dam, Libby
Ashmore, was out of the excellent producing mare Spring Darling who was a granddaughter of
Paragraph. Thus, Holly brings an unparalleled concentration of Paragraphs blood to
this century. Cavendish, Libby Ashmore, Spring Darling and her sire Springfield were all
bred by Mrs. Bryant also. Springfield was by Lippitt Sam and out of Paragraph.
Precious Ashmore, behind Courier, and Libby Ashmore, behind Caven-glo
Ballerina, were both sired by Lippitt Ashmore, known as a true gentleman. He was smooth,
correct, lovely, and a good sire. Criterions dam, Lippitt Robrita was sired by
Lippitt Rob Roy, another excellent stallion who was useful himself, riding and driving,
and a good sire. Lippitt Robrita was a dam of note, producing such as Clement, Cathy
Serenity, and more. Her sire was by Lippitt Sam and her dam brings in two crosses to
Daniel Lambert through Sir Ethan Allen.
The more one looks at Quietude Hollys pedigree, the more one is
impressed with the repeated close breeding to so many ancestors and how many of her
ancestors were noted progenitors. Each mating, through each generation, was well planned
by those who really knew Morgans.
